National Poetry Day 2020

National Poetry Day encourages us to share a poem and see things like a poet. This year, I’ve chosen to highlight Mary Webb, who wrote many renowned poems and novels whilst living around Lyth Hill on the edge of Shrewsbury.

One of her more famous poetic works is Green Rain, which has become one of my favourite poems, emotively describing Spring’s inevitable victory over Winter each year and inspiring me to continue writing when I feel I’m fighting the odds in my home county.
