For the UN’s World Poetry Day, we’re encouraged to share a poem that gets us through difficult times.
This year, I’ve chosen to read Charles Bukowski, as his poetry has consistently helped me during this especially difficult winter period – his work often taking a more cynical outlook on the world that provides much cathartic relief.
This poem is a bit more universal and uplifting than his usual writing but still captures Bukowski’s disdain for the average, mediocre and normal, which I regularly empathise with.
